Inspiration & Concept - The background of this piece is made from a genuine vintage Canberra Times newspaper dated 2 Nov 1967. I contrasted the aged vintage paper with bright paints and ink washes. I found a phrase in a book that I liked and emphasised a word from it in large scale hand lettering.

Medium & Techniques -  Vintage collage, photographic collage, hand lettering, ink, acrylic, coloured pencil.

Visual Elements - Anthropomorphism, modern vs. vintage, playful.

Process & Execution - I played on the word flirt with a combination of cosmetic, fashion and animal collage elements. The piece suggests that the animals are the flirts with their bright colours and extravagant features (which is somewhat true in the animal world!). There are also little hidden related pieces of the newspaper background e.g. ‘girl with time on her feet’.
