The Story Behind HOPEFUL MORNING
Inspiration & Concept - I was inspired by the vibrant colours in the bicycle image. I added that image first and then built around it.
Medium & Techniques - Collage and gel/paint pens on paper.
Visual Elements - Vintage, bold, illustrated vs photographic images, hand lettering, mark making.
Process & Execution - I looked for collage pieces that picked up the colours in the bicycle image. The pieces were varied, some water colour pieces, some vintage, some found ephemera (e.g. bingo sheet). I particularly love the big bold ‘11.43am’ on the side, which I embellished with tiny flowers.
